Day 10 - A picture of the person you do/did the most crazy things with

Sorry this one might be a little lameo. And i'm going to blame it on being a mom now and the fact that i dont make it out of the house very often to really do any crazy things anymore! haha! Hence why i changed the title to do/did. In order for me to do anything remotely crazy it takes someone to pull me out of my comfort zone. Someone who makes life exciting, interesting, is very passionate and does things spurr of the moment! Ask my husband..i am not a spurr of the moment person but pair me with the right person and I can become one! So after much thought i had to choose two pics for this. The first one is a pic of one of my best friends in High School, Amber. We used to do the craziest things sometimes and always had a good laugh!! We've lost touch over the years but i dont forget her thats for sure!! I look forward to reconnecting and catching up one day! :) The second is my friend Tracy. We met in Hair School and were friends from the beginning. She is just that type of person that draws you in with her infectious laugh and exciting demeanor! I was proud to have her in my wedding and to see her little girls grow from babies! She moved to Ontario over a year ago with her family and I miss them dearly! Hope to visit them there one day!

Day 09 - A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most

This is my beautiful sister Heather! Growing up we weren't very close because there was an almost 5 year gap between us and I was just the annoying little sister (who knows..maybe i still am!!) It wasn't until I moved in with her in Calgary in 2003 that we became best friends! We started to realize how much we were alike in certain things and how much crazy fun we had together! She has always been my soundingboard when it comes to relationships and now parenting! (and vice versa!) I look up to her in so many ways and am very proud to call her my sister and friend! And she gave me the cutest nephew in the world!! Thank you Heather for always being there for me and not telling me that i'm being ridiculous! :)

our messed up world!

As many of you know you have seen or heard all about the caflufful with the guzoo! Yes it is stupid and no i don't think that they should be shut down! They have worked hard for that farm and could use more help in ways of donations etc. What gets me, is the endless pursuit of these anti-guzoo people; the fight, the phone calls they make, the hours spent researching and lobbying against what they believe to be such an injustice. Forgive me if i'm wrong but there are much larger injustices in this world than what they think is "supposedly" going on at the guzoo!! What would happen if they used all that pent up energy and money and spent it where it counts? Focused on fighting for the "right: cause? Here is a story about a little boy in the ukraine (i believe) that was denied being adopted by a judge solely because he has Down Syndrome. His forever family raised the money and flew across the world to take him home and in one word "NO" their world was brought crashing down!! This judge believed he was better off in a institution tied to some bed rails for the rest of his life!!! Where r people's hearts?? If u want to see/read more check it out here. It breaks my heart!! So please, pray for this family!! Pray that hearts will be changed and Kirill can come home and live happily with a family that loves him to death!! Yes animals are important too because God loves them too but has He not called us to do more? Patricia Heaton is donating a $1 for every new member that follows Reece's Rainbow (the organization that helps with overseas adoptions of children with DS) on twitter. You can check it out here. So if you think those animals are being unjustly taken care of...(which they arent) research what goes on in Europe if you are a child born with DS or any other genetic disease!! Thats where people should be putting their energy!!
P.S- and this is coming from an animal lover myself! But i'm also a mom that believes every child deserves to be loved!!!

Snow and as of late!

Just when I think this winter is going to end it keeps coming back with a vengence! No its not a tsunami but once it melts it could turn into one! With each snowflake that falls I think my mood falls with it. I am trying to be upbeat and excited and happy..so i pull the shades and try to block out the whiteness that surrounds are house and the green that fails to appear. Unfortunately that only lasts while we are in our pjs and than our regular day/errands have to begin and once again we bundle up and trudge out to the car and pull the dreaded snowbrush out once again!! A good day is the days that you dont have to pull that out, and I actually get excited about that!! Funny how i get excited about not using a snowbrush! Lucas loves being outside now; he looks out the window and says "out" only to be reminded that once again today is not the day to go out!

can u tell hes excited to see the snow..again!!??

this is how he likes to look out the window...now if only it didnt move..
I was reminded to be thankful, however, when I had to drive to Three Hills this week to do hair. I was thankful for my all wheel drive car that kept me safe on some "iffy" roads and thankful that Calgary does not have nearly as much snow!! (sorry you three hillians but i was happy to leave!!)

parents house and yes that is the roof of my car to the left

Lucas being dwarfed by the snowbank..well actually hes already kinda small!! :P

parents backyard (this would have been pretty back in November but find it hard to look
at near the end of March!!!)

oh look a wet spot without snow!!! Thanks for finding it Lucas!
It doesn't suprise me to have the big snow fall in March because it virtually happens every year! Normally we have a glimpse of spring before that happens and even have leaves starting to budd on the trees! NOPE none of that happening here. Everything is in extra hibernation this year! So forgive me if i seem a bit under the weather (snow!!). The warmth will come..one day..and the snow will melt..one day.. and we will go outside and play in green grass without Lucas eating all the rabbit poop that lies dormant under the snow..one day! (i still think that he will manage to find poop though...blah!) Lets just pray that my mind reappears with the warm weather!! :) The longer the winter goes the higher my child climbs...literally!! He is just too smart for his own good/safety. He knows how to push items up to the kitchen chairs/desk and climb upon them..he does it in record time too, like when i have to pee of course!! On such occasion i reappeared from the bathroom to find him on the kitchen table holding an orange in one hand and a pear in the other and of course that little rotten monkey smile that he so graciously puts on as if to say "i was hungry!!" Now some of you might be thinking thats not so high..it is when my child isnt even as tall as the table and still has tendencies to fall off one stair and gain large goose eggs on his head! So yes..mild heartattack and one more thing to say "no!!!!!!!!!!" to! Oh and he has wandered onto the desk as well to play with the coveted computer that he is definately not allowed to touch..it took me an hour to get it working properly again!! He is currently conspiring about how to get ontop of the kitchen counters..pushing kitchen chairs over to the counter and using the oven drawer full of stuff to climb onto the chair...fortunately his foot got stuck in the roaster before he made his way to the chair! Yay for the roaster! I often walk through the house swearing i smell "burning" from the wheels that are turning in that small little head of his! So I wait..I wait for the day that "timeouts" can be used and the word "no" might actually have some impact (although i dont know if it ever will!). My "no"s are met with silly laughs and him turning to run the other way. And just when i think i have made the scariest most sternest face and said "No" like a creepy monster that lives in the lagoon, he looks into my eyes, puts his head back and starts laughing at me! Similar to this picture...(maybe i need to stop making weird faces to make him laugh...oops!)

goofball...oh and he's wearing my parents dog Jack's winter vest!
So once again forgive me if i want the snow to go away so we can go climb actual play things!! On the upside our mom's group on Friday mornings has grown..i think it has to something with all of us needing to join together and rebuild that part in our brain that sees us rocking back in forth in a corner somewhere!

So enough about snow.  I can't believe my little monkey is almost 15 months. Its funny how before you have kids you can picture yourself with a baby but never picture yourself with a toddler! A toddler is a whole nother ballgame! Its not that i didnt think babies grew i just didnt think past the baby stage! Ironically i didnt love the baby stage as much as i thought i would..probably because i didnt take into account the many hours of bouncing a gassy baby, rocking an overtired baby, and one word "blowouts"! ha! Yes the toddler years bring new challenges but it is so fun to see his little personality coming out..he is a different child from when he was a baby. i:e-was a horrible nurser/now is a fabulous eater, wasnt cuddly and hated facing you/now loves to face you and give hugs, hated his belly/now he sleeps on his belly, hardly smiled/now he smiles at everything, was such a serious baby/now is a crazy little goofball! It has been a joy to see the change and thankfully for the good! He is becoming more independent but is attached to me now more than ever! I love that i can kiss away his boo boos and stop his crying almost instantly just by picking him up! (although it gets tiring somedays and wish that someone else could...) It makes me feel more like a "mother" should. Before i was more "milk cow", now i am "mommy"! So enjoy these pics of my little monkey in his day to day little antics!

Day 8- A picture that makes you laugh

oh there are way too many of these!! Probably one of my favorite silly ones is at the top of my blog! The one in the bathtub. However when i was looking through my pics i had to decided on pictures of my nephew Colby..now this kid can make some seriously hilarious faces!! It started from the time he was little..
six months and he was mad at me cause i didnt give him a bite of my sandwich

no comment..it just makes me laugh!!

i asked him to show me his nose..this is what ensued...haha!

Wordless Wednesday

Day 07 - A picture of your most treasured item

Sorry about the quality of the pic..it was taken with my phone. This is my baby that Reuben got for my birthday, its the new Nikon D3100 and it pretty well goes everywhere with me. (important places that is!) I dont know everything about using it quite yet but when i get a chance i sit down and research/learn more about it. As well for Christmas Reuben surprised me with a new lens for it, a 35 mm. He told me when he bought the camera that it was my bday/christmas/the next 5 years for presents present so i was definately surprised by the new lens! :) So now we are broke but we have even better pictures! Haha! j/k! We just get to eat lentils more often!!!

Day 6- A picture of the person you would like to trade places with for a day

This one as tough as well. There arent really any celebs out there that i would want to trade places with. I dont want to be in the spotlight. But i chose Oprah for the reasons being that she gets to meet and interview people of all walks of life and she gives things away whether to her audience or to people that need it! I dont idolize her by any means but it definately would be very interesting to spend a day in her shoes!

Day 5- Picture of your favorite memory

Oh there a thousand favorite memories to think of but some of my best memories of course r from getting married and having a child. So i'm sorry but i had to choose two photos because they are equal in value to me!

The first one is me and Reuben on our honeymoon in Mexico. It was blast. We did a ton of stuff in one week, tours, snorkeling, swimming with dolphins, shopping...The beaches were gorgeous, the weather was gorgeous and I had an amazing time with my "new" husband! This was before post-baby body and no one else to worry about other than the two of us! :)
The second is the birth of Lucas. I have never experienced the overwhelming love and joy to that extent than in the moment that Lucas was born. This is a picture of Reuben getting to hold our new son for the first time..if you look really close you can tell that he was crying as well! Its amazing how your love changes for your husband the moment you see him become a father!  Love these two with all my heart!

Day 4- Picture of your night

Wow am i ever failing at this...little behind!!

This one was hard cause i dont do much in the night unless its relaxing with my hubby or doing laundry, etc. But a typical night also includes getting my child ready for bed. So this is one just after his bath! Doesnt he look happy and i look dorky?

Day 3

A picture of the cast of your favorite show
This is a new show that i started watching. "Off the Map". So far i really enjoy it. I like medical shows and of course the drama part of it as well. This one adds little twists here and there with different emergencies that come up with being on a jungle island..neat concept.

Day 2 (a little late!)

Guess i'm failing at this already!! Oh well better late than never!

Day2-a picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest

This is my friend Elaine on my wedding day. We have been friends since grade 3 and have seen each other go through many many things. We may not have been "Best" friends all these years but we have been "Good" friends which sometimes i think is better! :) She has always been there to listen to my woes and to celebrate my joys! My marriage and the birth of my son! I am excited to be in her wedding in the summer and to celebrate her joys with her!! Thanks Elaine for being a great friend!

words

Reuben was talking with our neighbor last night about how many words Lucas can say now, and he said 10. I said "no i dont think that many" but sure enough when we started counting how many he says it added up! I just didnt want to believe that my little monkey is growing up so fast and is getting smarter and smarter all the time! Here are the words that he can say (mind u because we r around him all the time we understand what he means when he says them!)
1. Dad
2. Mom
3. Hi (and waves)
5. Cat
6. Hat (sounds very much like cat but he touches his head when he says hat!)
7. All done (sounds more like All doe)
8. Tractor (minus the t)
9. crash (unfortunately sounds like ass)
10. night night
11. out (and points out the window)
He also waves bye bye but he doesnt say it yet! Its amazing to watch them grow everyday and something they didnt do yesterday they all of a sudden do today! I took a short video of him talking a bit!

Day One- Picture of yourself and 10 facts

haha..this one was a little tough to find a photo because i'm always the one taking the pictures! So i had to do a little croping but this is the most recent one i could find.
now on to the tougher part the facts...
1. I am a mom to the cutest little guy who is 14 months (ok that was easy)
2. I am not going back to work full time, but work for myself doing hair so we dont have to put Lucas is daycare
3. Although my hair is down in this picture, that is a rarity and it is usually up in a ponytail because i cant stand hair in my face, especially when i'm chasing a toddler around all day.
4. I was really shy when i was younger. it wasn't until i moved to Calgary and started doing hair that I overcame this. Now u cant shut me up! haha! j/k!
5. I'm a bit of a girly girl but still have a bit of tomboy in me. (ie. i love cars, snowboarding, wearing hoodies and jeans and one day i will be jumping in puddles with my son!)
6. A lot of people dont know that my hair is actually curly and not naturally straight. Love my flat iron!
7. I am a Christian, and God is constantly working in me and hopefully sometimes through me!
8. I am a bit of a neatfreak but you wouldn't know it sometimes when u see my house. I choose to put blinders on otherwise i would drive myself insane cleaning and straightening toys all day. (i even have Lucas' toys organized into crates/baskets...puzzles in one, cars in one, blocks in one etc. and it drives me nuts when they get mixed up!lol which is daily when Reuben puts them away! I love him for it though!)
9. I met my husband Reuben on the internet even though we are from the same area and I knew parts of his family and he knew parts of my family, etc. That was definately God's doing! :)
10. I never thought that mommyhood would be as hard as it has been somedays. I never thought that it would be as rewarding either!! I now understand the fierce love that our Creator has for us!! (and His is perfect!)

Ok..that wasnt that hard..i could probably keep going too but these r the top ten that i could think of off hand! :)

ok one more that i just thought of

11. I'm a bit of a grandma when it comes to doing things. I love to do puzzles, play boardgames, and sew. (i know boring, hey?)
